When we last saw Daphne Vane, she was being afflicted with what might be called an attack poodle. But never fear, her Mum is near, and she knows how to deal with bitches. Except when she’s being a bit of one herself, as Daphne finds out in “The romance of creatures,” chapter 2 of To Ride the Lightning Bolt, a weekly serial apparently featuring out-of-control animals at this point.
